This Week's ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll Released

The Syracuse Orangemen (10-0) have moved up to #5 in the Coaches Poll this week, receiving 639 votes. Just 3 votes ahead of Syracuse is UCONN at #4, who got 642 votes. In total seven Big East teams made the Coaches Top 25. Michigan State fell to #15 after losing to Syracuse this week in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden.

Other Big East teams in the top-25 are Pittsburgh (#8), Villanova (#11), Georgetown (#13) Louisville (#21) and Notre Dame (#23). Don't let any ESPN talking-heads tell you that the Big East isn't the best college basketball conference in the country.

With seven of the nations top 25 teams hailing from the Big East Conference, it should also be noted that West Virginia received 28 votes and Cincinnati received 3 votes. Texas, the #25 team, received 41 votes, meaning WVU was 13 votes away from having an unheard of 8 teams in the Big East ranked in the Coaches Poll.

Syracuse's next game is Saturday night at 7PM against Iona (7-3). Conference play begins on December 28th when Providence travels to the Carrier Dome for a 9PM tip.
